Reuse park
At Norwegian Property we constantly seek knowledge and challenge ourselves to operate more sustainably. As part of learning how to implement recycled materials more extensively in projects, we established a reuse park in Nydalen in the autumn of 2022.
Transforming a parking lot to a reuse park
We aim to create sustainable growth and a better society through holistic solutions and forward-looking use of architecture, aesthetics, and materials. The park was therefore placed on a former parking deck and is established with as many reused and environmentally friendly materials as possible. Curbstones and slate slabs are sourced from the Government Quarter while paving, joints, and gravel come from the landscaper Agaia's leftover stock. Plug plants adapted to the existing ecosystem are planted in soil consisting of, among other things, brick that binds CO2. When painting the technical room and ventilation duct, we tested a new paint that absorbs CO2.
Conscious choices for less environmental impact
Through conscious choices of solutions, vegetation, and reuse elements, we have reduced climate and environmental impact by 60% when establishing the park.
This corresponds to a saving of 100,000 kg CO2 equivalents, comparable to 540 round-trip flights from Oslo to Trondheim for one person, or a refurbishment of a 270m² office space. The climate and environmental impact is calculated through a life cycle analysis (LCA) developed by Asplan Viak, and the savings are calculated by comparing it to a conventional project.

Our sustainability strategy encompasses, among other things, sustainability goal 11, which deals with sustainable cities and social responsibility.
Social meeting place with aesthetic design
NPRO's definition of environmental and social responsibility includes clearly defined goals for environmentally friendly measures and high standards for the aesthetic design of buildings and outdoor areas for the local community.
Our sustainability strategy includes, among other things, sustainability goal 11, which is about sustainable cities and social responsibility. We aim to create safe and accessible outdoor areas, and the park has become a safe social meeting place for our tenants and the local community. A fitness park and bicycle parking have been established to encourage the use of outdoor space and climate-friendly transport to the workplace. We have placed five sculptures from the Oslo School of Architecture's student exhibition on the sun deck in the park. In addition, both the technical room and the ventilation duct are decorated by local Oslo-based artists Jonathan Chedeville and Rasmus Lyche Iversen.
