Fornebee by NPRO
At Fornebu, we are catering to the city's smallest citizens: the bees. Here, we have set up two beehives where we ensure a favorable environment for them to do the best possible job.
Facilitating for the city's smallest inhabitants
Norwegian Property consistently works to fulfill its social responsibility by combining larger structural initiatives with impactful small-scale measures. Therefore, we have set up two beehives at Fornebu, on the property at Snarøyveien 30, where we create a welcoming environment for the city's smallest inhabitants.
The beehives might be our smallest property, but they house the most employees – and they do important work! Through pollination, bees and insects contribute to one-third of the world's food supply.
Similar to our other tenants, we ensure a favorable climate for our bees. Around the beehive, we have planted a meadow consisting of a collection of bee-friendly flowers, as well as a dedicated lavender meadow.
This mix of flora stimulates pollination for both bees and other insects, ensuring a solid foundation for biodiversity of buzzing insect species at Fornebu.

Focusing on the bees' important role in our ecosystem
The bees and their role in the ecosystem align with Sustainable Development Goals 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities and 13: Climate Action, both of which are part of Norwegian Property's sustainability strategy.
The Fornebee project by NPRO focuses on the crucial role of bees in our ecosystem. The beehives are managed by Heier du Rietz Beekeeping.
The hives are monitored 24/7 and equipped with theft protection and GPS trackers. If you happen to see a swarm or vandalism at the hives, you can call beekeeper Alexander Du Rietz at tel: 911 52 471.
Please maintain a distance of at least three meters from the beehives.
Enjoy the experience!
